Food Processing Awards 2012

Lock’s INSIGHT Range Recognized with Top Food Industry Award Nomination

The award season is well under way and Lock Inspection Systems is celebrating after being nominated for a top award at the food and beverage industry equivalent of the Oscars– Food Processing Awards 2012!

Lock, the world’s leading independent supplier of metal detection equipment, has been nominated for Food Processing’s 2012 awards within the ‘Product of the Year’ category for their INSIGHT range of metal detectors.

The INSIGHT range, which delivers world class sensitivities to magnetic and non magnetic metals, provides preventive detection and removal of metal fragments during the production cycle to avoid downtime and equipment damage. The range ensures metal contaminants are identified and rejected, but the advanced OPTIX software and communications options enable the capture and download of comprehensive real time product, batch and performance data ensuring complete traceability. These features help manufacturers stay compliant and demonstrate to retailers their competency over traceability.

One food processor, CSM, a global supplier of bakery products, retrofitted a Lock INSIGHT metal detector to each of their three production lines which pack bread improver ingredients into various pack sizes in Manchester. The sophisticated INSIGHT system, which CSM uses to detect multiple types of metals within the packed product sold to in-store retail bakeries, overcame the limitations of their existing metal detection equipment enabling the food producer to demonstrate superior product quality and integrity.

David Strydom, editor of Food Processing Magazine who runs the awards, commented: ''Lock Inspection System’s INSIGHT range of metal detectors was chosen as a finalist for Product of the Year for one reason in particular - the range helps food manufacturers demonstrate their control over traceability to retailers. In this day and age, traceability is key because it is required for any product that doesn't meet a certain standard, and therefore highly valued by retailers. Lock has shown it is well aware of this and has produced a worthy product.''

Simon Taylor, Marketing and Sales Manager of Lock Inspection Systems, commented: “We are delighted with this award nomination as not only does it present us with a platform to celebrate the success of our INSIGHT range of metal detectors - it provides us with a reason to demonstrate the benefits of the range to a wider audience.

As our current customers have witnessed the INSIGHT range has increased the efficiency of their packaging lines - enabling them to stay compliant while giving the product quality assurances required to retain retailer confidence.”

Now in its 28th year, the Food Processing Awards recognize those companies who are at the forefront of the Food and Beverage industry. The winners will be announced on 12th June 2012 at an award ceremony to be held at Hinckley Island Hotel, Leicestershire.
